The Maritime Group Inc. was formed in 1990 in the USA by Captain John M Cox for the research and development of new cruise, shipping, ferry and port projects in the USA, Canada and the Caribbean.
It has since successfully completed numerous ventures and established an enviable reputation throughout the cruise and ferry industry in North America for its depth of knowledge, expertise and integrity.
In 2004 TMG formed a company based in London, TMG Europe, to provide services to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Subsequently TMG, in association with other maritime consultancies, formed The Maritime Group International to widen the scope of maritime services and expertise offered on a global basis.
The company expanded with regional offices established in Seattle, Honolulu, Australasia, Singapore, Durban, Halifax (NS) and London, drawing together a diverse group of expert maritime professionals with many years of experience in ship operations and management at sea and ashore.
We are currently engaged in various contracts in North America, Caribbean, Pacific region, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

John is highly experienced in the cruise, ferry and port sectors of the maritime industry.
He spent many years in command as Captain of cruise ships and is a former senior executive with Admiral Cruises, now merged with Royal Caribbean.
Since 1990, John has been involved in a range of project worldwide to analyze cruise and ferry operations, and terminal and port development. He maintains contacts with senior executives of all the major cruise lines.
John’s impressive list of industry appointments includes President of the Northwest Cruise Ship Association as well as the Alaska Steamship Association. He was Senior Vice-President of Western Cruise Lines and Admiral Cruises.
John is the Chairman and CEO of the board of the Black Ball Ferry Line of Seattle, Washington State, USA. Black Ball Ferry Line is the last privately owned US shipping company operating an international freight and passenger service.
John is a graduate of the California Maritime Academy with a BSc in Marine Sciences, and majored at the University of Washington, Seattle, and the California State University at San Francisco.

Malcolm has considerable marine related experience gained over many years, specializing in the high speed craft, Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax ferry sectors.
His seagoing career spanned 24 years, of which 10 were as Captain in command of container vessels, cross channel ferries and a cruise ship.
Malcolm then spent more than 20 years ashore in senior executive and management roles, where he has worked, and is still working, in ferry and high speed craft operations, container operations, cruise operations, ship management, general and commercial management.
As a highly experienced ship and operations manager he is also an expert ship broker specializing in the charter market and is a past member of the London Baltic Exchange.
Malcolm had the honor of being the Master of the London livery company, the Honourable Company of Master Mariners in 2009-2010. He is also a Freeman of the ancient Company of Watermen of the River Thames and a Younger Brother of the Corporation of Trinity House. Malcolm is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport & Logistics, a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation and a Fellow of the Nautical Institute. He is a module course leader and lectures at City, University of London, for their MSc course in Maritime Operations and Management. He was awarded the Merchant Navy Medal for meritorious service to the British MN in 2013.

Bill has worked in the maritime industry for the past 40 years. He is engaged in many aspects of the maritime industry, including port development, ship husbandry, port logistics and marine transportation, cargo and cruise operations, legislative oversight, regulatory oversight, regulatory compliance and maritime security.
Born in Norway, but now holding US citizenship, Bill hails from a long line of professional mariners, spending his youth growing up around the ocean which evolved into a lifelong passion.
Previously, Bill worked for various maritime companies, including Norwegian Cruise Lines as Director of Port Operations, and American Hawaii Cruises (AHC)/United States Lines where he served as Vice President – Maritime Affaires.
Prior to AHC he worked for Sause Brothers, Matson Navigation Company and Theo Davies Maritime Agencies; maritime companies where he had operational oversight of company vessels and the management of marine logistics and terminal support operations.
Patnaik is a highly qualified marine engineer with more than 25 years of experience in ship management gained in a wide variety of roles.
These have ranged from onboard chief engineer to vessel manager ashore for leading ship management companies.
Patnaik has also built a wealth of professional expertise in maritime business across Singapore, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Myanmar, UAE and the USA as well as the wider Asia and Africa regions.
His skillset includes project planning, project management, consultation services, operational support and engineering, crewing management, ship broking, chartering services, marine consultancy, ship agency services, and technical, crewing and ancillary support services.
TMG (Asia) brings with it Neptune Ship Management Pte. Ltd, Neptune Ship Agency Pte Ltd and Palstoke Marine Pte Ltd.
Patnaik holds an Executive MBA with a focus on finance and a BE in Marine Engineering.
He can speak Bengali, English, Hindi and Telugu.
Kevin is an internationally experienced, entrepreneurial sales professional with a highly successful background in business to business solution sales, key account management and new business development.
His extensive maritime experience developed from 17 years in the Royal Naval Submarine Service to, more recently, sales of marine terminal and supply chain optimization solutions to principally the oil and gas majors worldwide.
Kevin has recently held key positions in the Business Unit Oil and Gas at Quintiq (Dassault Systemes Group), and in Oil, Gas and Maritime solutions at Cirrus Logistics Ltd. (Centriq Group) and at Emerson Process Management (CSi). This was preceded by UK sales for Emerson Process Management (CSi) – Predictive Maintenance Solutions.
In late 2015 he founded Portunus-Solutions Ltd. in 2015, a solution brokerage and referral partner to both selected Supply Chain and Advanced Maintenance Solution vendors, valuable to the shipping, port and terminal community.
Working to TMG’s accredited ISO 9001 standard, Kevin is now responsible for the company’s business development activities, including the acquisition of new business and additional partner. He maintains fruitful relationships with the wider TMG sales teams, existing customers and partner organizations.
Kevin leads the company’s expansion into new markets whilst continuing to grow relationships with existing clients and ensuring that TMG’s high standards of honesty and ethical practice are maintained throughout the sales cycle.
Kevin gained requisite academic, professional, leadership and staff training qualifications throughout his time in the RN and has held several senior operational roles in both diesel-electric and nuclear powered submarines.
He was Deputy Senior Warfare Training Officer at the RN Submarine School before retiring voluntarily from the RN in the rank of Lieutenant Commander in 1993 to pursue an extremely successful career in the commercial world.

Jonathan, who is known as Jonty, has substantial executive experience gained worldwide in senior positions in the military and private sector.
He brings his extensive professional expertise as a dynamic project leader and consultant to TMG after filling similar roles at engineering giant Rolls-Royce and the MoD.
Jonty spent more than 30 years in the British Royal Navy, specialising in submarines and navigation, before joining Rolls-Royce.
At Rolls-Royce he introduced the UK, France and Norway’s ‘NATO’ Submarine Rescue System (NSRS) into service before providing a similar rescue system for the Indian Navy.
He has provided expertise in business development and market analysis for Submarine Escape and Rescue (SMER), assisted with proposals to the Vietnam Navy for hyperbaric facilities and acted as a SMER consultant for the MoD.
Jonty has written several policy papers and information sheets on such subjects as payloads, speed/endurance requirements, operational cycles and UK warship programme failures.
He has been a technical advisor for Millennium Films, and published magazine articles on naval history and escape and rescue issues.
Jonty has also made programmes for various TV companies and BBC Radio 4, advised on films and books and is an occasional lecturer.
As well as command positions in the military, Jonty served at the British Embassy in Washington, at the Ministry of Defence in London and as Submarine Operations Officer for NATO and as the Operational Head of the UK Submarine Rescue Service.
J.Mark Rowbotham MA FCILT

Mark is a consultant, trainer and writer in customs, VAT, export controls, oil & gas offshore and marine issues. He has spent a considerable length of time working in the Government, commercial and academic sectors.
Mark was originally an Officer in HM Customs & Excise, dealing with import and export controls on maritime freight traffic into and out of UK ports before becoming an independent consultant and trainer in the late 1990s.
He deals primarily with compliance, control and procedural issues in customs, excise, VAT and marine logistics matters, and is a trainer in international trade, customs, supply chain logistics and risk management courses.
Mark speaks five European languages, and graduated in Languages (Portuguese) and Export Management, as well as complete fluency in French.
He also gained a Masters’ Degree in International Relations and Political Economy in 1995. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK), and is a member of their Freight Forwarding, Ports and Maritime Forums.
Mark has written extensively on the subjects of customs, international supply chain and marine compliance issues for a wide variety of International trade and logistics publications and journals.
He has had two books published, the first in 2008 entitled “Introduction to Marine Cargo Management”, Second Edition published 2015, and the second in 2011 entitled “Marine Reporting & Maritime Territorial Controls”.
Mark has been a part-time lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University on the Maritime Studies Programme, and also works with a variety of other training organisations, including SETYM International, based in Montréal, Canada, on several of their courses.
He advises several Northern chambers of commerce on customs and international trade issues, frequently delivering advice, training courses and seminars on these subjects.
He is a trainer for the British Chambers of Commerce, and has also been an adviser to UK Trade & Investment (now DIT) on customs procedures pertaining to trade with the Americas, as well as also being an adviser to the Ghana and Kenya Revenue Authorities.
John has more than 35 years of senior executive experience and knowledge gained from sectors including ferry, cruise and business support.
He has held executive position for major companies, such as the WHSmith, Rank Group, Butlins and DFDS Seaways Ltd where he was Managing Director for 20 years.
John has undertaken consulting and coaching work with SMEs ranging from two to 100 plus employees and undertaken a variety of executive and non-executive director roles across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
With generalist experience as well as in ferries, John also has in-depth knowledge of the passenger shipping, travel, tourism and retail sectors.
He has a strong track record of creating tailor-made solutions that exploit opportunities and address challenges to help clients grow profits, confidence and sustainability.
John has a solid record providing strategic leadership and direction, growing award-winning brands and great teams.
His skills include strategic thinking, sales and marketing, business and people development and change management.
He holds an MBA and his other qualifications include a Level 5 Diploma in Coaching & Mentoring, a Diploma in Digital Marketing, a Diploma in Management Studies and BA (Hons) Social Studies (Economics).
